Is a Tether Mobile US number a real mobile number?
Yes. New US numbers from Tether Mobile are real mobile numbers, and texts sent to yours are forwarded to your connected apps.
Will services send verification codes to my US mobile number?
Services treat it like any other US mobile number. The largest US banks, including Wells Fargo, send codes to Tether Mobile US numbers, and so do Claude and Telegram. The service compatibility page lists more.
Do I need to be in the US to use my number?
No. Your number receives texts wherever you are, and they reach your apps over Wi-Fi or mobile data. There’s no SIM card to carry and no roaming.
Can I send texts or make calls?
No. Tether Mobile plans are inbound only: no outgoing texts, replies, calls or mobile data.
How long does it take to get my number?
Most activations take a minute or two. We email you when your number is ready.
