A US mobile number is a real mobile line, so it works with services that refuse virtual numbers. Canada, UK and Netherlands numbers are virtual: most services we’ve tested send codes to them, but occasionally some don’t. [Check service compatibility](https://tethermobile.com/service-compatibility) for the services you rely on before you switch. **What kind of number do I get? Is it VoIP?** US numbers are real mobile lines, not VoIP, so services treat them like any other phone. Canada, UK and Netherlands numbers are virtual long numbers (VLNs). Neither needs a SIM card, and Tether Mobile numbers cannot be used for calls. **Which countries can I get a number in?** Numbers in the US (real mobile numbers), Canada, the UK and the Netherlands. About an hour after a text reaches your destinations, we delete it, including our copy of the carrier’s notification. If a delivery fails, we keep the text for retries and delete it within 7 days.
